Stretching after physical activity is essential for preventing injuries, improving flexibility, and promoting recovery. Maintaining a consistent stretching program helps to decrease muscle tension, increase range of motion, and promote overall health. Committing to stretching regularly helps to support your body’s physical performance and overall well-being.

TREATING ANKLE SPRAIN 

Ankle sprains are common injuries and often lead to chronic ankle instability if not treated properly. Ankle instability can lead to pain and swelling that can impact your daily activities and sports performance. Early Physical Therapy and proper rehabilitation is crucial for optimal recovery. If you experience an ankle sprain, see your Physical Therapist to prevent long-term issues. 

 

TIPS FOR TRAVELLING BY AIR

With the colder winter months dragging on, you might be considering a trip somewhere warm. It is important to follow some simple steps to stay safe and injury-free when flying:

  • Choose an aisle seat for easier access and more leg room.
  • Get up from your seat periodically to walk around and stretch your legs to prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
  • If you are lifting heavy bags, ensure that you are using proper lifting techniques to avoid injury. If needed, ask for help with heavy luggage.
  • Drink enough water to stay hydrated and avoid muscle cramps.
  • Read the safety pamphlets and pay attention during safety demonstrations to familiarize yourself with the safety procedures and location of the emergency exits on the plane.

HAT TIP TO BRAIN INJURY AWARENESS MONTH

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the impact of brain injuries. Every year, millions of people suffer brain injuries that drastically impact their lives. Brain Injury Awareness Month emphasizes education, prevention, and support for individuals affected by brain injuries. This month allows people to share their personal stories and spread knowledge about the importance of brain health. It is also a time to advocate for improved treatment and services for those impacted by brain injuries, allowing them to experience an optimal quality of life.
